Complete refurbishment of a protected structure which had previously been sub-divided into separate units and the brief was to restore it to a comfortable family home.
Works included the removal of later interventions to sub-divide the property while restoration and refurbishment of the original fabric of the building was undertaken.
Sensitive reinstatement of features, such as coving, ceiling roses, windows, etc. was undertaken. A new sunroom in a contemporary idiom was added to the side of the house, with a copper roof and slender timber joinery (“Metolike” system). A new landscaping scheme was implemented, inspired by the historic maps which illustrated the 19th century garden design.
